Sir Peter Blake Portrait Award

I was chosen as a winner for my portrait of Pop Art legend Sir Peter Blake. In the painting he is standing in The Writing Shed, the place where the welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, wrote some of his most famous works. Hopefully, my portrait captured the serenity and inspiration that Sir Peter was feeling in that moment. Hope you like it.

BP Portrait Award 2013

My portrait of Alastair Campbell was selected for the BP Portrait Award 2013 at the National Portrait Gallery. This is considered to be the most highly regarded portrait exhibition for a portrait artist to be selected for in the world.

I approached Alastair about painting his portrait as an entry for the BP Portrait Awards 2013, as I was inspired by his tireless charitable work. He is an ambassador for Time to Change and has worked for both Mind and Rethink. He has also raised well over seven figures for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Alastair invited me to spend some time with him as he worked. He let me follow him closely to make sketches, take notes and lots of photographs. I was touched by his kindness and empathy.
